Oakland University


Oakland University is a nationally recognized university with over 120 undergraduate degree programs and about 100 graduate degree and certificate programs.  OU currently offers a minor in Judaic Studies.  Classes for Judaic Studies vary each semester.  Offerings include Introduction to Judaism, History of Jews in Europe, Jews in America, Politics of the Middle East and North Africa, The Arab-Israeli Conflict, and The Holocaust.








HMD currently oversees three student groups on campus:  Jewish Student Organization (JSO);  Students for Israel (SFI); and, Jewish Medical Student Association (JeMSA)


HMD programs on the Oakland University campus include:

•Lunch‘n Learns with local Rabbis

•Bumpers nights

•Holiday Celebrations

•Social activities (bowling, lasertag, Pistons games)

•Israeli Marketplace


JSO - Jewish Student Organization:

•Programming for Jewish students on campus  

•Interfaith discussions and events  

•Intercultural programs  

•A student board which plans and runs regular events on campus


SFI - Students for Israel:

Educates the campus about the importance of Israel and the relationship between the United States and Israel.


JeMSA – Jewish Medical Student Association:

Provide social, cultural, educational and networking opportunities for Jewish medical students.



OU students participate in community-wide events sponsored by Hillel of Metro Detroit.
